Call for volunteers! Trans Day of Remembrance/Visibility action group

Plan B is Looking for TDOR/TDOV Volunteers

We are seeking trans/gender variant, non-binary, two-spirit, or otherwise gender non-conforming folks of any age to volunteer on an action committee to help organize critical days of trans-specific program moving forward. The goal behind forming a working group for TDOR and TDOV is to install a stronger trans community in KW that advocates, outreaches, and raises awareness of issues related to trans folks locally and globally. Planning Sessions will be every other Tuesday starting September 26th from 6-8pm.

List of Planning Sessions:

  • Tuesday September 26 6-8pm
  • Tuesday October 10 6-8pm
  • Tuesday October 24 6-8pm
  • Tuesday November 7 6-8pm

Time commitment: 5-7 hours per month with 1/2 in office meetings. We welcome folks on an ongoing basis!

Contact Ethan at ethan@planbcoopkw.com for more details and to become involved!

The goal behind forming a working group for TDOR and TDOV is to install a stronger trans community in KW that advocates, outreaches, and raises awareness of issues related to trans folks locally and globally. In the past, I have personally reached out to community groups and individuals to attempt to organize a community event rather than just campuses doing their own thing. Together we’re better. Pooling resources is important! This all felt like it’s chasing an issue as a band-aid solution. The goal behind this working group is to prevent last minute, thrown together community events and create sustainable organizing.

If this is something you’re interested in, please do attend the first session to introduce yourself, provide your organizing capacities, brainstorm ideas, or just hang out with other trans folks. Your capacity is important! The reason we (Plan B) have booked out regular times is to offer a drop-in style working time frame where we document brainstorming through notes and google documents. The google doc will let folks accessing minutes and ideas we talk about without having to come.

Plan B’s office is located inside Treehaus Collaborative Working Space at 79 Joseph St., downtown Kitchener. We are a low-scent office (please avoid perfumes/colognes/scented products), wheelchair accessible, and have three gender neutral washrooms. Childcare available upon request and bus tickets are available.
